Dear Fellow Brahman Breeders

Mogul has had an outstanding last twelve months with many highlights which we wish to share with you.  We had major successes in the showring in New South Wales and Queensland and sold cattle to many parts of Australia and overseas.

Mogul Miss Fontenot 8th by Mr Fontenot 125 won many championships in the last year but two stood out.  In August 2005, she was awarded Senior and Grand Championship Female ribbons at the RNA Brisbane Show, 34 years after we won our first Brisbane Grand Championship Female ribbon with Mogul Miss Indy Manso at the ABBA 25th Anniversary Show.  In April in Sydney at the 2006 RAS Royal Easter Show, with a calf at foot, she won Senior and Grand Championship Female ribbons and was also awarded the Best Exhibit Rosette.  We also won Junior Female (Mogul Miss M Scarlett 8th), Reserve Senior Bull (Mogul Ranger), Reserve Senior Female (Mogul Miss Skye Manso 2nd), Reserve Junior Bull (Mogul Swagman Manso) and Reserve Junior Female (Mogul Miss SB Wittlesea 4th) awards.  As a result of these wins we have now won well over 100 Royal Show Championships in three states over 42 years.

The above results enabled us to win the inaugural Premier Breeder Award against all beef breeds at the 2006 Sydney Royal Easter Show.

We also won the Kyabra trophy for the 16th time.

During 2005 Thailand became the fourth overseas destination for Mogul cattle.  We sold eleven red animals, three bulls (one of which was a show bull by Mr Fontenot 125) and eight heifers.  We have received very positive comments on these cattle.

We will again be participating in “The Land” Northern Beef Week Open Day on Monday 26th June 2006.  On that day we will have available for inspection and sale a select group of grey springing heifers.  You will also see our 2006 sale bulls, including those going to the Rockhampton Brahman Week, Casino All Breeds and Grafton Bos Indicus sales.  We will also have a group of F1 Brahman females on display to emphasise the value of Brahman cattle for crossbreeding.

We will have five bulls at the 2006 Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale in October.  The team will include Mogul Redford a top son of our successful red sire Mogul Maseratti (also sire of our Sydney Royal junior champion heifer and some of the cattle exported to Thailand).  See Redford’s photo on the inside back page of the March 2006 Brahman News.  We are also selling two of our successful grey show bulls, Mogul Ranger and Mogul Sabre, by JJ Cuatro Didor 919.  These bulls will be available for inspection at the Open Day.

We have recently weaned our second crop of grey calves by Kenrol Montana and Lancefield D Kayle Manso.  We have also weaned our first calves by the red sires Lanes Creek Revolution and Edenglassie Red Texan.

On a sad note we send our condolences to Lyn Bulmer and family on the recent passing of Earle Bulmer, one of NSW’s earliest Brahman breeders and a former chairman of the branch.
