MOGUL NEWSLETTER JUNE 2009

                                                                                                                                 8 June 2009

Dear Fellow Brahman Breeders

Another exciting year has passed with the future again looking bright, despite the recent record rains and flood.  Our show successes led to our winning the Kyabra trophy for the 19th time, as the most successful Brahman exhibitor at NSW shows.

At the 2009 Sydney Royal Easter Show we won the Premier Breeder Award for being the most successful beef cattle exhibitor against all breeds.  We won the inaugural Premier Breeder Award in 2006 and are the only stud to have won it twice.

We won the Best Exhibit award for the 4th year in a row with the Senior and Grand Champion Bull, Mogul Woomera Manso.  Mogul Miss LC Fontenot won Senior and Grand Champion Female, having won Reserve Junior Champion Female last year.  This heifer went on to win 2nd place in a very strong class at Beef Australia 2009 in Rockhampton in May.

We also won Reserve Senior Champion Bull with Mogul Vigilanti, Junior Champion Bull with Mogul Ward, a fully imported embryo by DB Valentino 48/3 from Dettering Brothers in Texas, Reserve Junior Champion Bull with Mogul Wichita by HK Visa Brazil, Reserve Senior Champion Female with Mogul Miss A Doreen, and Reserve Junior Champion Female with Mogul Miss LC Dianne 3rd.

We still have semen available from several sires and grandsires of the show team, including Mr Fontenot 125 (red), PBF Cossack Manso (grey), Mogul Sultan (grey), Mogul Tesco (red, poll) and Billabong Roundtree (red).

Our Field Day on Saturday 21 June 2008, was very successful – it was a glorious sunny winter’s day with over 100 attendees and excellent speakers.  The cattle looked outstanding.

This year we will be participating in the inaugural Bizzy Invitational Bull and Stud Female Sale to be held at Grafton Saleyards on 5th September 2009.  An Open Day will be held to inspect the animals on the properties of each participant on Saturday 11th July 2009, so come to Mogul to see what we have to offer – from 8:30am.

Show champion Mogul Woomera Manso will be one of star lots.  He was sired by Kenrol Montana Manso and has a full Hudgins pedigree.  One of our featured female lots will be the poll heifer Mogul Miss R Wittlesea, the only registered poll red female in Australia by DB Rebel 139/0.  Her mother, Mogul Miss I Wittlesea 2nd, was Grand Champion Female at Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2007 and 2008.  All told, we will be offering 10 red and grey bulls and 15 red and grey heifers.

At our Open Day you will also be able to inspect our 2009 Casino Bull Sale offering and our Rockhampton Brahman week bulls.  You will also be able to view our magnificent calves, many of them poll, by the new sires introduced to the herd in 2007/08, including Mogul Tesco, PBF Cossack Manso, El Ja Data Axcess Manso, Yenda K 12/7 and Lancefield D Warner.

We have also introduced two new sires into our herd: the outstanding grey poll bull El Ja Budwiser Manso by JDH Fred Manso, and Lancefield S Walker.  Semen will be available from El Ja Budwiser Manso soon.

George and Glen attended the 2008 World Brahman Congress in Fort Worth, Texas in May 2008, promoting our stud and looking for new opportunities and ideas.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Open Day on Saturday 11 July!  See our website www.mogulstud.com.au for ongoing news and more about the sale on 5th September.
